Accessibility isn't an afterthought for us — many of the neighbors we serve are older adults or people managing visual, hearing, mobility, or cognitive challenges. We build and maintain this site with them in mind.
What we aim for
We work to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. In practice, that means:
- Text and background colors that meet AA contrast at the sizes we use them.
- A readable base font size, with larger type on content-heavy pages.
- Clear, visible focus outlines for everyone navigating by keyboard.
- Meaningful text alternatives for images that carry information.
- Motion that respects your "reduce motion" setting — every animation has a still fallback.
- Forms with large touch targets and clear labels, and no CAPTCHA puzzles to solve.
- A layout that works with a keyboard, a screen reader, and at high zoom.
Language access
Our services are offered in English, Español, and Kreyòl Ayisyen. On the phone and in person, language is never a barrier to getting help.
